Photo Review of Tapestry in 2012 (6)

As the year is drawing to an end, we thought we'd look back and celebrate the many moments of our 10th year! A great big thank you to all who have connected with us in ways big and small. We look forward to meeting old friends and new in 2013!

Here are pictures from Centre for Playback Theatre School Asia 2012 - Singapore from 28th Sept to 7th Oct.

From 28 September to 11 October in 2012 the Centre for Playback Theatre hosted its first multi-course training in Singapore.

Over these 12 days we had three 4 day/4 night courses – Social Awareness with Pamela Freeman, The Art & the Heart of the Story with Aviva Apel-Rosenthal, Active Conducting with Kayo Munakata; and two 3 day/3 night courses – Models of PT in Schools with Kao Yu-chen, and Multicultural Multilingual PT with Veronica Needa.

49 participants from Australia, Bali, Bangladesh, mainland China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan attended.

Here's Jerry Berry from Tapestry dancing with Aviva Apel-Rosenthal from Israel.

We connected with friends new and old. Here's Michael with participants from Singapore, Taiwan and China.

“The flow of learning was so well paced and organic, blended experience with what came with the participants. Specific learning to embrace truthstay with itlet it guide the choices, and the details take care of themselves.”Laura Lane Chirnside Schuster (The Art & Heart of the Story)

“It was like a dream. In playback, dreams come true! This was a changing event for me. Thank you all and thanks for everything.” Reza Aziz (Social Awareness, The Art & Heart of the Story, Models of PT in Schools)

Tapestry Playback Theatre also put on an internal performance in ser the participants. The theme was If I Could.

It was an honour to perform in front of our friends from the playback world. And it was especially nerve-racking in some ways too.

In March, Tapestry held an experiential workshop over two and a half days.
Part of our mission is to train and support competent playbackers in Singapore.
We had participants from Korea, India, Malaysia and Singapore!

The wonderful thing about playback workshops is always the deep and meaningful connections we find with each other.

A big thank you to the trainers and the participants for a wonderful two and a half days of connecting and friendship.

If you missed this workshop, don't worry! Let us know if you want to see us conducting more workshops!

Words from our Retreat (7)

This is the 7th in a series of poems/musings/prose/text, penned by our members during our retreat in November on the theme of Tapestry. This one is by Michael.

Poem in Retreat 25th Nov 2012
It's an idea, a concept, a reality.
It's a group, a team, a family.
It's a pain, a longing, and a joy.

It's a thorn in my soul
It's a place in my heart.

Sometimes we fight,
sometimes we're tight.
Sometimes we're awesome,
sometimes tiresome.
Sometimes we tear,
sometimes we fear.

It's a thorn in my soul
It's a place in my heart

Words from our Retreat (6)

This is the 6th in a series of poems/musings/prose/text, penned by our members during our retreat in November on the theme of Tapestry. This one is by Laura.

Tapestry breathes a dedicated vision

Extending Touchstones
Indulging levity
Exorcizing obstacles

Erase borders which inhibit discovery
As Playback Rainbows release Monsoons of tears,
tickles and trust.

Accumulative experiences
Relational blockages
Insightful journeys

We have come a long way,
We've only just begun.

rainbow awaits
Biting our fears
we thread the threads
Together we perfect the imperfect

Words from our Retreat 2012 (2)

We spent a little bit of time during our last retreat, to individually come up with a few words on our thoughts about Tapestry. Here's one from Elaine.

A Special Gift - Tapestry Playback Theatre
By: Elaine Tham

Playback can be a very special gift,
a very special gift it can be.

I found in it comfort;
I found in it a safe space;
I found in it a comfortable and authentic feeling.
Most importantly, it is my avenue for reflection.

Playback can be a very special gift,
but only when you are ready for it.
When you are ready and open to this special gift,
you would savour it slow.

Playback is indeed a very special gift.

Words from our Retreat 2012 (1)

We went into our annual retreat in Nov, to review the past year and plan for the coming year.

We spent a little bit of time to individually come up with a few words on our thoughts about Tapestry. Here's one from Ying. Look out for the rest coming up soon!

Tapestry and Me 2012

A team of characters put together
Funny, serious, through storms we weather
Privileged to have the opportunity
To be of service to community

So much to learn it's quite challenging
CPT workshops were enlightening
Trying my best to always be present
To make up for what I missed in absence
